"I give your book a 10 out 10 and it is a recommended read." Ernest Bastide

"As a social history buff, I enjoy reading about real people and their lives. I've travelled in the Arctic by plane to remote communities like Grise Fiord and Little Cornwallis Island during the short summer months. I know firsthand how vital aviation is to the survival of these communities of families. Polar Winds captures many stories of Arctic aviators, community challenges, rescue, death and everything in between. With her clear, compelling writing and meticulous details, Danielle Metcalfe-Chenail opens the far north in all its beauty and danger. It's a great read!"

Red Roads to Runways tells the fascinating story of the Summerside Air Force base in Prince Edward Island in a beautiful coffee table book format. It chronicles the base's WWII construction as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, its post-war transition, Cold War operations, and its activities in peacetime. Gray has interwoven humorous personal stories with historical facts to demonstrate how the base and town of Summerside supported each other. He also provides interesting but little-known facts regarding the role of the base on the world stage as well as a myriad of heroic feats executed on a daily basis by military personnel. The book is illustrated with paintings by Summerside native, Rob Arsenault.

larry grayLarry Gray served in the RCAF for 24 years as a radio officer/navigator with numerous postings in Canada (including seven years in Summerside) and abroad. He spent his secondary duties as editor of base newspapers. Since retirement, Larry has worked for the Royal Canadian Legion pursing disability pensions for injured service personnel and veterans, and was appointed to The Veterans Review and Appeal Board in Charlottetown. Larry and his wife live in Carleton Place, ON and Stanley Bridge, PEI.

Blackbirds is the first in an exciting new series from Garry Ryan.

When young Sharon Lacey travels from Canada to England in the spring of 1940 in search of the father she never knew, she finds herself called to participate in a much larger and more dangerous mission. For at eighteen, she is a gifted flier in an England desperate for pilots to fend off the impending attack from Hitler's Luftwaffe. In the months that follow, Sharon will be tested in ways that will affect the rest of her life—should she survive.

With Blackbirds, award-winning mystery novelist Garry Ryan turns his hand towards historical fiction, vividly evoking the fear and uncertainty of wartime England, as well as the spirit and camaraderie and adventure shared by the men—and women—who stepped forward to defend it.
