New Brunswick ChapterOur chapter was formed in 1996 in Saint John but as we are a small province, we rotate our meetings between the cities of Fredericton, Moncton, and Saint John.

While we only hold four monthly meetings, we are a very active group in our communities. Our members volunteer to clean and spruce up aviation displays and memorial cairns; lobby for recognition of historical aviation sites; and erect plaques to inform the public of significant aviation sites.

One of our chapter’s objectives has been to display New Brunswick’s civil, commercial and military aviation history to the public free of charge. This led us to partner with the Greater Moncton International Airport to create the Don McClure Aviation Gallery in the airport terminal in 2003. We also worked with the Saint John Airport to complete a photographic display of the history of the province’s airports, past and present.

Saint John members are also active in promoting aviation history within two local schools: M. Gerald Teed and Millidgeville North. Both of these have aviation history displays and an educational outreach program in the Millidgeville North School introduces three classes of Grade 5 students to the Theory of Flight, Women in Aviation, History of Aviation in New Brunswick, and early Airmail flying in Canada. As part of their school work each spring, students prepare either an aviation art or essay project for judging by the chapter’s members. Prizes are awarded at a pizza party and a field trip is made to tour the airport facilities.

If you are interested in joining our group, becoming involved in some of these activities, or just talking aviation history, please get in touch with us by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
